Rajkot is a city of over 1,200,000 people in the west Indian state of Gujarat.

This city is famous because this is the ancestral home of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi spent the early days of his life here in Rajkot. He attended Alfred High School which is now known as Mahatma Gandhi High School.


Rajkot city is also famous for its mirror-work, Bandhani Sarees, bead work, patch work, silk embriodery, jewellery market, and watch parts. This city is also famous for its small scale manufacturing industries. The industrial products which have earned fame for Rajkot include auto parts, forging industry, bearings and machine tools.

This city is also famous for its interesting places which include the Watson museum and library, Rajkumar College, Jagat Mandir, Rashtriya Shala, Wankaner, Jubilee Garden and Balaji Temple.

This city is has a wide range of educational options. Saurashtra University is the largest university in Gujarat which offers courses in many areas such as law, medical, Management, Commerce, Humanities, Religion, Music, Indian Culture and Arts. 207 other colleges are affiliated to this university.

Rajkot city is connected to Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and to other major cities of Gujarat and also connected to Mumbai by railway and air.
